A spectacular summer drive through central Otago before a relaxed day in Dunedin, brings us to our exclusive charter train journey north. We journey along the spectacular coastline
by train from Dunedin to Christchurch not normally available to the general public. So please join us to enjoy the vistas of secluded
golden sand beaches, rolling farmland and coastal plains. A journey only a few can experience.

Sunday 06 March

Auckland – Queenstown

Depart late-morning from Auckland on Air New Zealand to arrive Queenstown
early afternoon. After a short orientation tour the balance of the
afternoon is free. Welcome Dinner tonight.

Monday 07 March

Today is at leisure to enjoy ‘The Jewel of the South’. Maybe take the gondola
to admire the panoramic views of Lake Wakatipu or for the more adventurous
a helicopter ride above Lake Wakatipu. The choices are extensive. This
evening we include a cruise on the TSS Earnslaw and a special Gourmet BBQ Dinner at Walter Peak Station.

Tuesday 08 March

Queenstown – Dunedin

Today we travel through the timeless dry brown landscapes and ancient
mountains of Central Otago. We travel through Cromwell and onto Clyde to
view the impressive dam. Our journey continues via Alexandra, Ophir (coldest
town in NZ) then a lunch stop at the rural art deco town of Ranfurly.
Continue onto Dunedin for a two night stay.

Wednesday 09 March

This morning enjoy a sightseeing tour of the ‘Edinburgh of the South’
including Olveston House, Signal hill, the world’s steepest street, Botanical
Gardens, University and the Forsyth Barr Sports stadium. The afternoon is
free to explore or join our optional tour to the Royal Albatross Centre.


Royal Albatross Centre $55 per person
Albatrosses are the world’s largest seabirds. Dunedin’s Taiaroa Head is
the only mainland Royal Albatross breeding colony in the world and is a
great day out from Dunedin (group numbers are limited).

Thursday 10 March

Dunedin – Christchurch

After breakfast we head north on our exclusive charter train along the scenic
coastal rail route through Palmerston, Oamaru, Timaru and the across
the plains via Ashburton to arrive in Christchurch late afternoon. Enjoy our

Booking Conditions

A non-refundable deposit of $300 per person is required to secure your place on the tour. Full payment is due not later than 21 January 2022
Bookings made after 21 January 2022 require full payment at time of booking

• If this tour is cancelled due to Covid 19 government travel restrictions, and if
a refund is available, Pukekohe Travel reserves the right in addition to any

administrative fee of $300 per person

Travel Insurance

• We strongly recommend participants to take out suitable insurance to cover
cancellation costs. Please ask for quote.

Covid-19 Vaccination

All travellers must be fully vaccinated and be able to provide a copy of the Ministry of Health Vaccine Record Card with proof of your full Covid-19 vaccination. It is important that the date of vaccination of your final dose is at least 14 days before the tour departure date.

Health and Fitness

Walking tours are an important part of the itinerary and a good standard of health is required with the ability to walk on uneven surfaces and negotiate stairs
