Lower North Island Tour Including Hawkes Bay

By Exclusive Charter Train

This new Lower North Island Rail tour continues the expansion of our New Zealand Rail tour programme.

Our rail tour travels to Manawatu, Hawkes Bay, Wairarapa and Wellington before travelling up the main trunk line to Auckland.

Experience the scenic lower North Island in style, travelling aboard our exclusive charter train – the refurbished Silver Fern Railcar.
Each carriage is comfortably equipped with full on-board facilities and spectacular viewing.

Panoramic windows offer uninterrupted views not seen when travelling by road.

Our tour escort and hosts ensure your seven day tour is relaxing, fun and memorable.

Each night we stay in comfortable hotels where all guest rooms have their own private facilities and all breakfasts are included.

Morning, afternoon teas and lunches on the train are included most days as well as many dinners.

Beginning in Auckland with selected pick-ups en-route, the ‘Silver Fern’ takes us through the lush farmlands of Waikato and King Country and up the iconic Raurimu Spiral to the Central Plateau with stunning views of Tongariro and Ruapehu (hopefully).

Highlights in Napier include a morning tannery tour, lunch at the Mission Estate and an afternoon with a difference at a local orchard.
Relax and enjoy the rail journey through the Central Hawkes Bay countryside that includes a special Mangatainoka Tui Brewery experience, including lunch in the Flagon Room.

The journey south continues through the Rimutaka Ranges before emerging at Upper Hutt and Wellington Harbour.

A morning city tour highlights New Zealand’s capital and the leisure afternoon allows time to explore Te Papa and the picturesque waterfront.

The main trunk line to National Park is another relaxing journey before arriving at the iconic Chateau Tongariro for a one night stay with time to explore the national park.
