This week is planned for you to experience some of the best food, wine and accommodation in the Queenstown area. A balance of dining, activities, shopping and relaxing with all the arrangements taken care of. We have added the spectacular drive to Milford with the overnight cruise and the breath-taking experience of a flight back to Queenstown.
HOSTS – Mary and Terry Houghton will host you for your time at Gibbston House. We, at Pukekohe Travel have known Mary for over twenty years, first in her role with a cruise specialist and then our friendship has continued when she and Terry became involved in the hospitality industry.
Terry is an ex-military man, a keen aviator and is into anything sport. Mary loves entertaining, is a keen traveller with a passion for cruising.
The invitation is open to a maximum of 10 to enjoy this treat in one of New Zealand’s jewel regions.
Midmorning fly Auckland to Queenstown (other destinations available). On arrival you will be met by Terry Houghton, one of your hosts for your stay in Queenstown. Travel by luxury Mercedes van to Gibbston House located in a vineyard in the Gibbston Valley. Settle into your luxury accommodation for a four night stay. Meet in the guest lounge for cheese and a glass of wine before heading to Kinross Restaurant and winery for dinner with matched wines.
This morning your 4WD vehicles and driver/guides will meet you at Gibbston House to travel to Arrowtown to then follow the miner’s old wagon trail to the historic gold mining town of Macetown. This area has now been transformed by the Department of Conservations into a reserve. The narrow rugged road has 25 river crossings of the Arrow River. There will be time to explore the remains of Macetown and pan for gold – always fun. Return to Arrowtown for lunch of your own choice before a return to Gibbston House to relax. Tonight’s dinner is a Gibbston Valley winery restaurant with matching wines.
Today the choice is yours. Golf at Millbrook, Spa at Millbrook, hire a bike to explore the area, return to Arrowtown or just relax. Any special requests, Mary and Terry will assist.
After a relaxing breakfast, Terry will take you to Queenstown to shop, enjoy coffee or whatever you wish. At about 1 pm, Terry will meet you to drive to Amisfield for one of their legendary lunches with paired wines.Return to Gibbston House for a nap!!This evening cheese and wine in the guest lounge will probably suffice.
