Thursday 21 April

Auckland – Queenstown

Fly to Queenstown with a mid-morning arrival. Terry one of our host will meet you with a luxury Mercedes van and transfer you to Gibbston house – your exclusive lodge, hosted by Mary and Terry Houghton for the next five nights. This evening enjoy welcome drinks and nibbles before transferring to your dinner at a local winery. 

 

Friday 22 April

Arrowtown Festival

This morning travel to Arrowtown and enjoy an ‘Arrowtown Ramble’, a historical guided walk with a local guide and see the Art Exhibition with entries from all over New Zealand. Enjoy shopping and lunch before returning to Gibbston House. The afternoon is yours – Millbrook for a spa or a round of golf, a visit into Queenstown or just relax. Dinner tonight is at another local restaurant. 

 

Saturday 23 April

Gibbston

This morning is your own. Transport is available. At noon travel to Arrowtown for the Akarua Long Lunch. Enjoy a glass of bubbles and a four course platter lunch – the idea is a long relaxed lunch. When ready return to Gibbston House to rest. This evening relax at the lodge with cheese and wine. 

 

Sunday 24 April

Arrowtown Autumn Festival

Today is the day, everything is happening in Arrowtown! Vintage car buffs may like to go over early to see the cars before they take off on their rally. It is also Market Day with 100s of stalls, a Festival parade and street entertainment. Return to Gibbston House when you are ready. Tonight enjoy the surpise themed Party – a chance to theme dress and visit the speak easy bar.

 

Monday 25 April

ANZAC Day + 4WD Excursion

This morning attend an ANZAC Parade if you wish. Late morning meet your driver/ guide and head away to follow the mines and wagon trail – to the historic goldmining town of Macetown. This area has been transformed by the Department of Conservation into a reserve. The rugged road has 25 river crossings over the Arrowtown river. A chance to gold pan before returning to Gibbston House. To relax before dinner at a winery. 

 

Tuesday 26 April

Queenstown – Wanaka

After a relaxing final breakfast at Gibbston House travel to Cromwell with time to explore old Cromwell. Continue onto Wanaka with time to have lunch (own expense) before checking into Wanaka Homestead for the next three nights. Dinner tonight at a local restaurant.

Thursday 28 April

Today depart for an exclusive 30 minute cruise across Lake Wanaka to Mau Waho Island. This visit is the perfect combination of a lake cruise, nature walk, wildlife encounter and outstanding 360°panoramic views of the mountains and lakes. Tea and coffee will be served on top of the Island with time to soak up the surroundings. Return to Wanaka for lunch of your own choice. Dinner is at the local restaurant Oak. 

 

Friday 29 April

Wanaka – Queenstown – Auckland

Gibbston House  is located in a vineyard in the beautiful Gibbston Valley, which is aptly called the "Valley of Vines". This magnificent property can be found just 15 minutes from Queenstown. This lovely home has something to offer everyone. Each room is well appointed, self-contained with its own en-suite and boasts spectacular views. 

Wanaka Homestead Empathetically built incorporating rescued remnants from the sheds of the original Wanaka Station & Homestead, the Lodge imbues relaxed luxury for up to 10 guests and the space to reflect, recoup, regroup.

Health and Fitness

• To ensure the tour is enjoyable for the whole group, a reasonable standard of fitness is required. Many gardens are sloping and there will be steps to negotiate.

• Mobility frames and wheelchairs are not practical or permitted.
