We continue our popular Cruise - ‘Ghan’ rail tour options with an oriental cruise on-board ‘Sun Princess’ from Hong Kong, calling at Vietnam’s ‘Jewel’ Halong Bay and Nga Trang to visit the enchanting city of Hoi An before continuing south to frenetic Ho Chi Mihn city.

Halong Bay is known as the ‘Jewel in the Crown of Vietnam’ with its limestone karst formations and is now a UNESCO ‘New Seven Wonders of the World.’
With a population of 300,000 Nha Trang still retains its small town atmosphere and is well known for the friendliness of the locals. The main beach is a long curving stretch backed by a promenade, hotels and seafood restaurants.
Today we arrive in Vietnam’s culinary centre where there is plenty on the menu! The port of Phu My (pronounced “Foo Me”) is the gateway to Ho Chi Minh City and the seaside resort of Vung Tau. Still fondly known as Saigon, the city is a chaotic whirl played out against a French colonial backdrop as the aroma of noodle stalls, the sight of orange-garbed monks and the incessant buzz of scooters create a vivid snapshot of daily life.
Tanung Benoa is famous for its beaches, water sports, cuisine including cooking skills and Balinese temples. A great destination to relax.
After breakfast disembark ‘Sun Princess’ and enjoy a city sights tour, including a visit to the Royal Flying Doctors Tourist facility and lunch on Stokes Hill Wharf. Transfer to your hotel with the rest of the afternoon at leisure before a welcome dinner at the Double Tree restaurant.
This morning transfer to the Darwin Rail Terminal to board The Ghan Expedition. Prepare for a journey of comfort, relaxation and a touch of adventure, as the legendary Ghan takes you deep into the heart of Australia. This afternoon you will arrive into Katherine, home of the stunning Katherine Gorge and rich in Indigenous history.
Continue your journey aboard The Ghan making an extended stop in Alice Springs - the heart of the Red Centre. This evening we will all come together and dine beneath the stars for an authentic Outback Dinner.
Today make an extended stop at Manguri. Your destination Coober Pedy - the sun scorched opal mining capital of the world.
Today arrive into Adelaide late morning. Enjoy a short city tour before transferring to our beachfront hotel in Glenelg. Evening free.
After breakfast a coach journey to the Barossa Valley, followed by a heritage tour and lunch at Seppeltsfield Winery. After lunch return to Glenelg. Remainder of the day at leisure.
After breakfast transfer to Adelaide Airport for your flight home.

Checked-in luggage is not accessible during the train journey. Pack your cabin bag with the essentials for the three nights on The Ghan.
Smart casual is required for the Queen Adelaide Restaurant on board the train.
A good standard of fitness is required for this tour. The ability to walk unaided for 400 metres is essential. The train is unstable while travelling, therefore you need to be firm-of-foot.

• Cruising: As above, with something more dressy for the special nights on board.
Men – a smart shirt is fine. There are casual alternative restaurants.
Walking tours are an important part of the itinerary and a good standard of health is required with the ability to walk on uneven surfaces and negotiate stairs
