Known as ‘The Rock’, this small enclave of Britain looks out to Africa with the Atlantic and Mediterranean on either side. Take the cable car up ‘The Rock’ to St Michael’s Cave, watch the fascinating Barbary Apes or just enjoy the panoramic views.
Known as the ‘Gateway to Provence’, France’s second largest city is a port of fishing boats, the notorious Chateau d’If and colourful surroundings.
With its bustling harbour and historic centre, Genoa is the birthplace of Christopher Columbus and gateway to outside destinations such as the UNESCO coastal villages of Cinque Terre.
From the port of Livorno, travel to the iconic Italian cities of Florence with the famous Ponte Vecchio and statue of Michelangelo, or Pisa with its leaning tower that took 177 years to complete or the villages of Tuscany.
Rome, a city which needs no introduction. Its 3000 year history can be seen at the Forum, Colosseum, the Vatican museum and Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel with its beautiful frescoes, Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon.
A large city and important port in the south of Italy with Mt Vesuvius, Pompeii and the Amalfi coast nearby. Dating back to 2BC, this city of hustle and bustle has much to offer, including art, history and intriguing people-watching opportunities.
Kotor is situated in a bay on the Adriatic Coast with a very narrow entrance surrounded by limestone cliffs. The ‘Old Town’ with its winding streets, is an UNESCO heritage site from the 12 – 14 centuries and a great place to explore.
Corfu is a large island in the Ionian Sea with rugged mountains and a resort-studded coastline. With white-washed houses, ancient fortresses and beaches, this is an ideal location to spend a day.
Crete, Greece's largest island, is known for its varied terrain, ranging from fine-sand beaches at Elafonisi to the White Mountains. Mt. Ida, the tallest of the range, is home to the Ideon Cave, which was the birthplace of Zeus, according to Greek mythology.
This beautiful seaside town features boutiques, jewellery stores, souvenirs, taverns, cafés and the famous windmills south of the waterfront.
The port of Piraeus is a 20 minute drive from Athens central and an optional tour allows you to see the Acropolis, Parthenon, the Temple of Olympian Zeus with time in the Plaka pedestrian shopping area.
The gem of the Aegean Sea is not to be missed. As you arrive, the vista of whitewashed cubie-form houses with blue window frames and roofs clinging to multi-coloured cliffs will astound. A great day to wander or relax in the many cafés.
The second visit to this beautiful port lends itself to coffee and pastries in the square and relaxing.
Messina is one of the main cities on the island across the Strait of Messina from mainland Italy. The island is known as the ‘Crossroads to the Mediterranean’ and Messina as the ‘Gateway to Sicily.’
Toulon’s history has been influenced by the natural well protected harbour that the navy has used as its bas throughout history. The ‘Old Town’ has medieval atmosphere with a lovely market just a short walk from the harbour.
Time to disembark and enjoy a day tour of Barcelona and visit the famous Montserrat and Benedictine Monastery. Before heading off to the airport for the late evening flight to Dubai.
