Depart Auckland on Air New Zealand non-stop flight to Buenos Aires. On arrival transfer to your central city hotel with time to relax before a Welcome Dinner at the hotel.
Saturday 02 Buenos Aires B D
Live the porteño magic or port city life as your tour takes you to the glamorous neighbourhoods of Recoleta and its most famous cemetery; Palermo, May Square and the Pink House. Continue to the Metropolitan Cathedral, the newest and trendiest Puerto Madero Area, the picturesque neighbourhood of San Telmo and Caminito Street in the colourful Italian immigrant’s neighbourhood of La Boca.
Dinner and a Tango show are included.
Sunday 03 Day to Colonia (Uruguay) B
Today cross the River Plate (Rio de la Plata) by ferry to the port of Colonia. Our city tour highlights the Portuguese influence from 1680 with the Old City reflecting its colonial past with cobble stone streets, squares and churches. Time to explore and choose your own lunch stop. Return to Buenos Aires late afternoon.
Monday 04 Buenos Aires – Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) B D
Morning transfer to the airport for our flight to Rio de Janeiro arriving late morning. Afternoon free before an included dinner.
Tuesday 05 Rio De Janeiro B D
Our morning tour visits Corcovado and South Beaches. Be captivated by a cog train ride to the world famous statue of Christ the Redeemer to enjoy panoramic views of this beautiful city. On your descent continue by coach passing Rio’s famous beaches.
Wednesday 06 Rio de Janeiro B L
See the highlights of downtown Rio including the Sambadrome and the Metropolitan Cathedral and walk in the recently-revitalised area of the city, part of the Olympic Games venue. After lunch continue onto Urca where Sugar Loaf is located. Travel by cable car to the summit and later return to the hotel with an evening at leisure.
Thursday 07 Rio de Janeiro - Iguazu Iguassu Falls B D
Transfer to the airport for a short flight to Iguassu arriving just after midday. Transfer to our hotel on the Argentinian side of the Falls. Afternoon at leisure.
Friday 08 Iguassu B
After breakfast, see the lush rainforest that surrounds the Falls, walk across foot bridges and visit the upper and lower circuits and Devils Throat.
Opportunity to take the optional Navigation Tour (USD45) - a boat ride on the river that gets you close to the action and wet!
Saturday 09 Iguassu – Lima (Peru) B
Today we cross to the Brazilian side of the Falls. Travel the elevator down to the base of the waterfalls and up to the Salto Floriano viewpoint.
Afternoon transfer to the airport for an early evening flight to Lima. On arrival, transfer to your hotel in the suburb of Miraflores, an area of many shops and restaurants.
Sunday 10 Lima B
Morning free to relax before an afternoon city tour of Lima which includes the colonial downtown area around the Main Square.
Continue to the modern district of San Isidro and the Larco Museum, the most complete collection of treasures from Old Peru.
Monday 11 Lima B
Day at leisure to explore Peru’s costal capital, home of colonial facades, pre-Columbian art, the Museo de la Nació and an exquisite Old City.
Tuesday 12 Lima – Cusco – Yucay B L
A short early morning flight to Cusco. Travel over the mountain road by coach to Yucay in the Scared Valley, 55 kms from Cusco. En-route visit the Pisac Market famous for its handicrafts and woollen goods and the village of Ollantaytambo in the Sacred Valley. Lunch is at local restaurant before returning to your hotel in Yucay.
Wednesday 13 Machu Picchu – Aguas Calientes B L
Today a gem with a short drive to Ollantaytambo railway station for our train ride down the spectacular Urubamba River Valley to Aguas Calientes. Continue with an almost vertical bus ride with stunning views of the river up to the UNESCO Heritage Site and citadel of Machu Picchu . Enjoy a guided tour and free time to explore on your own before descending to Aguas Calientes for lunch. Check into your hotel with the afternoon free.
Thursday 14 Aguas Calientes – Cusco B
Opportunity to return to Machu Picchu (possibly at sunrise) before returning by bus and train to Cusco for a two night stay.
Friday 15 Cusco B
On our half-day tour outside and above Cusco (the former capital of the Incan Empire), we see a blend of Incan and Spanish cultures. Visit pre-conquest structures at Sacsayhuaman and Tambomachay.
In the afternoon explore cobbled streets with local artisans creating their wonderful silver pieces, paintings and wood carvings.
Saturday 16 Cusco – Puno (Peru) B
Travel by luxury coach through wonderful scenery, stopping at Andahuaylilas, with its 17th century church, the Racchi ruins and La Raya with great views and photo opportunities. Arrive mid-afternoon in the city of Puno on the shores of Lake Titicaca for a one-night stay.
Sunday 17 Puno – Copacabana (Bolivia) B D
This morning travel by boat to Uros floating Island, man-made structures made of reeds. Hear from the locals about life on the islands and its challenges. Later travel by coach to Copacabana in Bolivia, but still on the shores of Lake Titcaca.
Monday 18 Copacabana – La Paz (Bolivia) B D
This morning walk through the small town of Copacabana with its main square and traditional market and see the fresh produce of the area.
Travel onto La Paz for a one-night stay and later see a traditional folklore show with dinner.
Tuesday 19 La Paz B D
La Paz is set in a valley at the foot of the Andes Range (3632 m). On our four hour city tour visit street markets, the colonial quarter and Murillo Square. Descend to the southern part of La Paz and visit the Valley of the Moon. The farewell dinner is at the hotel tonight.
Wednesday 20 La Paz - Buenos Aires
An early morning flight via Santa Cruz to Buenos Aires arriving early afternoon. Afternoon to relax in an airport hotel, before our late night flight on Air New Zealand to New Zealand.
