After docking, join your guide for a 90min coach journey to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Petra which dates back to 300BC.  Walk down through the Siq to the magnificent Treasury – the tour then gradually unfolds the mysteries of the ‘Red Rose City’.  Lunch is at the Petra Basin.          

Return past the Treasury via the Siq to your coach for the journey back to Aqaba arriving late afternoon. A special memory.

The Suez Canal, opened in 1869 and built by forced peasant labour and state-of-the-art machinery of the time, joins the Mediterranean Sea with the Gulf of Suez.  The 193km waterway (including access channels), has no locks and played a crucial role in the 1956 Cold War. Around 50 ships per day access the canal which is currently being deepened and widened.
