Two group awards and two members invited back to the USA were two of the highlights of the Hutt City Dance Centre's group tour to Los Angeles.
One of our specialist consultants co-ordinated the 35 members aged 10-23 plus leaders from Wellington to take part in the annual Dance of Excellence by special invite.
Dance Excellence holds a performance competition at the Long Beach Performing Arts Centre in a theatre that seats 3000 which countries can choose to enter.
Students compete on a world class stage at four levels in front of three judges.
Hutt City Dance Centre attained the highest result of 'Excellence' for our performances in both the Senior and Adult grades in the Variety section.
Some countries entered up to six groups in the different styles – the group entered two and won both!!
The two members will return next year, one to work at Disneyland and one to train with the Young Americans Arts Dance Theatre. This was a great opportunity for young Kiwis to experience overseas travel and the group enjoyed their total American experience.
We are able to organise groups for schools or clubs of all sizes internationally or within New Zealand.
