Garden Spectacular Tour - by exclusive chartered train

Our garden rail tour offers you the opportunity to see some of the less-travelled highlights of the wonderful New Zealand countryside and the colourful horticultural delights of Taranaki.
Rail travel by charter train is always special. Add to this the river city of Wanganui with its unique Durie Hill elevator, the river and of course the gardens – a great start to the week.
On to Taranaki (known as the ‘Garden of New Zealand’ at the height of spring for a four night stay – just after the crowds for the annual Garden Spectacular have left. We will see only the best-of-the-best gardens on our private visits including Pukeiti Rhododendron Garden and the 52ha Pukekura Park.
We close the week with a special overnight at the Chateau Tongariro – set magnificently in the tussock of Tongariro National park with the three snow-capped mountains as a backdrop.
